Late Summer Updates!

Hi Moms!

Check out these before and after photos:
Photo of our garage sale about an hour after it started (and we'd already sold LOTS of stuff)

After the last buyer left.

Is that not AMAZING???? I think SO! A special thanks to all the women who helped at the sale! An extra-special thank you goes to Kim Byers for offering her garage and LOTS of additional time in planning. Planning required no less than 10 emails a day during the 2 weeks leading up to the event. OK, I could be exaggerating just a tad... but it was busy.

We raised $501.00 for the March of Dimes of Colorado.

Well, done, Ladies! I am humbled!

August Events

Hi Ladies! The end of summer is already upon us! And to wrap things up, we have some fantastic events in planning.

Rather than a Mom's Night Out, we will be having a family BBQ at Sarah H's house! Dates, times, and more info to come!

For the kiddos, we will go to a castle and enjoy some music, hay rides, and outdoor fun! Here is a description:

Tiny Tots Love Music
Presented by Denver Brass5
Tuesday, August 30: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Pavilion Tent
Reservations: $7 per person – includes Hay Rides, Cattle Viewing, Performance, and Conversations with the Musicians.
“Tiny Tots Love Music” concerts employ an experiential approach: children participate in physical activity related to the music and directed listening through age appropriate narration, resulting in a powerful musical experience. During the concert, parents are also actively involved in the musical activities, becoming exceptional role models for their children. Hand clappin’, finger snappin’, feet stompin’ musical activities, and directed listening make everyone realize that live concerts are FUN! Especially designed for children under five, these 45-minute concerts are enrich early brain development and musical awareness in children, teach parents the benefits of including music in their children’s daily lives and spark a lifelong love of music in young minds and hearts. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy Cherokee’s majestic views after the program. (There are no Castle Tours associated with this program.)

Register online or by phone as soon as possible! Directions and information is available at the website:
http://www.cherokeeranch.org/

Also, we had previously discussed going to a "Film in the Park" as a group on Aug 5. Because of the late start-time, we have opted to go to the Cherokee Castle event instead. Here's the information for the "Film in the Park" for those of you who still may be interested in going with your family:

Amazing!

The response to the Garage sale is AMAZING!!! I cannot believe how many generous Luna Moms are willing to help for this fantastic cause! The March of Dimes will be very impressed and our efforts will help premature babies in our community.

So far, we have Brooke, Lynette, Xan, Sarah, Lauren, Kelly (who had a baby 5 minutes ago), and Amanda volunteering time or goods for the event. And, don't forget about Kim, who is graciously offering many hours and her own home! If anyone else would like to join in, please do not hesitate.

I will be sending Kim's contact info to each of you ladies, so watch your emails.

Finally, if you have any "big ticket" items (furniture, sporting goods, large baby items like swings or high chairs, etc, electronics) to donate, please email me at hporter310@yahoo.com. If you can shoot a picture, please send that as well. I want to be able to adequately market this event.

You have 1.5 weeks to start packing up your goods. This is a great way to clean out your home. Have fun!

Photos!

These are from our last MNO, a cooking class, where we learned to make a few new yummy dishes. These are some cell phone photos, so the quality isn't best:

Thanks goes to Sarah for planning such a great MNO! Can't wait for the next!

As some of you may not know, there is a partnership between SS and March of Dimes and the Luna Mom's are required to hold an outreach project. So, ours is in less than 2 weeks~ July 22! We're hosting a garage sale where funds will go to the March Of Dimes. During the week leading up, please drop off items at Kim Byer's home. Please let Kim know if you would like her address and to set up a time. Email me at hporter310@yahoo.com if you'd like her contact info. If your items are smallish, you can bring them to SS on Wednesday of this week and I will happily take them for you. If you have larger items, please don't hesitate to let me know, I pick them up and will get them to the sale. Let me know asap.

We need the following volunteers, so even if you can't make the sale, there's great ways to assist for a great cause:
- someone to donate pop, water, and ice Thank you, Kelly, Cody, and Chloe!
- someone to help make signs (during the week leading up)
- someone to help price items (during the week leading up) Thanks, Brooke!
- someone to donate materials to make signs and post prices (stickers, markers, cardboard, or "garage sale" signs available at hardware stores) Thank You, Lynette, Xan Andy and Allie!!!
- 2-3 more mom's to assist at the sale itself on July 22 (will likely be in the morning, till around 1ish) So far, we have Holly, Kim, Amanda, Sarah, Brooke, and Lauren! Thank You, guys, we will organize shifts very soon!!
- 1 mom to help clean up Thanks, Brooke!!!
- 1 mom to help take unsold items to the goodwill Thanks Brooke and Lynette!

Dads and older children can be involved as well! Older kids can help with counting cash and pricing items!

Remember, if you volunteer on the day of the sale, you get first dibs on some great baby and household items!

This is going to be really fun for a great cause, I hope that everyone can find a way to become involved!

In pairs of two, we'll be hunting for treasures all over Highland Heritage Park! Make sure that you're ready with some extra water and sunblock.

***Also, would anyone like to volunteer to bring snack that day?

And, here's some photos from our recent Wacky Wednesday adventures:

Wacky Wednesday this week!

We're having a book exchange!

Bring some gently used books- both adult and kid-friendly- to swap. For each book that you bring, you get to pick another book. The more books you bring, the more you get to take home!

We will also have some "story time" with the kiddos.

I need one volunteer to bring a snack this week. Email me or send me a message on FB if you'd like to volunteer.

Thank you, Amanda, for the delicious banana bread and fruit last week!

Don't Forget!

Don't forget, tomorrow after SS, we are kicking off Wacky Wednesdays by making some fun father's day gifts! Here's a sneak peek:
Just add some sweet little footprints!

I picked this up at Ace for less than $3 and they also had aprons- if you've got a grill master or carpenter at your home! You could also bring T-shirts, socks, boxers, you name it! Don't forget to bring a white garment for your little one so that he or she can have something special to wear on the big day.

Additionally, we have a garage sale coming up! Kim Byers has agreed to offer her time, enthusiasm, and garage on Friday, July 22. 100% of proceeds will go directly to the March Of Dimes, which is a charity that is near and dear to her heart. So, please, start going through your belongings now. We will be carting all of our goods to her home during the week before.

We need additional volunteers for this event. Our needs will include those who are will help sort and price items during the week before, those who can help set-up Thursday, July 21, those who can assist on July 22 at the sale, and those who can help clean up. The sale will begin at 7am. Please contact Me (Holly), Sarah, or Kim if you'd like to help for this fantastic cause.

More details to come!

MNO Recap and What's Next

Despite the rain, ten Mom's made it out to Indulge this past Wednesday for some delicious wine and food pairings. We had a room to ourselves and enjoyed such dishes as sea bass and steak oscar. The wine was amazing. Holy moly, that rose and ice wine was to die for! I am pretty sure that everyone had a fantastic evening- even the two troopers who couldn't even have any wine! I neglected to take any photos of the event, and I don't think anyone else did, either. If you have any photos to share, pass them along!

Our next event is one for the kiddos. Following SS class on Saturday, we will be getting the kids digital finger prints taken for a national database for identity detection. While we don't want to think about our kids going missing, it is good to be prepared. In the event of an Amber alert, having your child's finger prints in the database can help bring him/her home! If this is something that you're interested in, please let us know asap! If you cannot make the event, we can also give you information to have this done in your own home, free of charge.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Zoo Trip Recap

We had a fantastic time at the zoo. The highlights of the trip were definitely the primates- the orangutan, gorillas, and several adorable monkeys. We also saw a Sea Lion show, some reptiles, and pink flamingos! Click on the images to enlarge.

This monkey was very interested in the contents of Cody's Easter egg!

See that squirrel up there? He shopped every stroller for a snack and then snatched a half of a PB&J and carried it up on this fence for a snack. Apparently, the stroller parking outside of the reptile room has become his personal buffet!
